help plz...

hi all 

i'm very new to ubuntu and i need some help..

i bought VPS and the OS is Ubuntu 10.04 32bit,
the thing is: i have only root accesses and no GUI or something..
so i did as it says here http://www.ubuntugeek.com/how-to-install-gui-in-ubuntu-10-04-lucid-lynx-server.html
but i dont know how do use it, how do i see the desktop?

i mean how can i by on graphic environment?

ok it's installed.

but now whan i try to install VNC :
sudo apt-get install vnc4server xinetd

it says:
"E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?
"
i try to do this for the first thing on the machine starts, and still same error..

what can i do?
