Gui for ubuntu server

I recently installed ubuntu server 10.10 but I realised it is very hard to use without a gui 
I tried first : sudo apt-get (x)ubuntu-desktop. My server can't find this package. When I try to install it comes complain about 20 dependencies missing ...
Somewhere else I read about xorg (formerly known as x-windows-core i guess). Downloaded this crappy soft, I was asked again for a bunch of dependencies. I downloaded some, but everytime i try to install a depedency, i'm asked for 10 other dependencies. At this rate, I will be busy with it the whole year.
Is there a package out there with kde included ? Or should I try Linux since ubuntu doesn't seem to be userfriendly?
