Ubuntu 9.10 desktop + VMWare Workstation
« on: March 02, 2010, 08:12:36 AM »
Hello... first I would like to say this community rocks  8)

So my problem is: I have Ubuntu 9.10 desktop installed on my PC. All works fine. I have installed VMware workstation. I am running a virtual machine on it with Ubuntu 8.04 LTS (for Zimbra mail).

So now I need some help. I would like to set up VMware to start as soon as my PC boots up (not manual). Is there a way that it would start a specific virtual machine on its own?

And one more thing... I would like to access my Ubuntu desktop via remote. How can I do this? The built in function its not ok, cuz I need to be loged in to my desktop...

hi

i think your a bit confused i bean on the website for Zimbra mail 8.04 LTS is just the  one they've tested on , it does not mean that it will not work with 9:10 . ???
Installing it
1) go into ubuntu 9:10
2) download into the downloads
3)go to download other click extract here
4) now open up the Terminal change to it by typing :
Code: [Select]
cd Downloads/zcs-6.0.5_GA_2213.UBUNTU8.20100202225756 ( 64bit will be a different folder just change it as needed )
5) give it the right to run :
Code: [Select]
sudo chmod +x install.shand run it by  :
Code: [Select]
sudo ./install.sh , say yes if it say's  :WARNING: ZCS is currently only supported on Ubuntu Server 6.06 and 8.04 LTS.

and wow i hope !!!
