Samsung CLP-600n
« on: April 01, 2010, 06:08:37 PM »
I am new to Ubuntu 9.10 and have been getting to grips with it (sort of)! I have three local printers: an old HP Laserjet 5; a HP Officejet 6000 and a Samsung CLP-600n. I use them all for different things but my Samsung CLP-600n has stopped being recognised. It prints all the test pages from the printer console but not from my pc. I've tried using different usb printer cables and even moved the usb jack into different slots but the pc and/or Ubuntu just won't "talk" to each other. I am even beginning to think that the usb port at the back of the printer may be the fault - but it all worked well for a few weeks - until now. Please HELP!

Bus 009 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub

I notice the 4th line makes mention of Samsung - that is the only peripheral that is Samsung?

So, how does this help?

Your Ubuntu instructions worked perfectly! However, when I did it first time - the CLP600 still didn't show. So, I did everything again but this time I re-booted the pc and checked to see if the CLP600 showed up! IT DID!!! I've done a simple test and the pc talks "nicely" to me CLP600.
:) Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! You've renewed my faith in human nature and Ubuntu. :)
Like I've said, I like Ubuntu and would like to become more proficient. I do find it quite different to all previous Windows OSs. In my efforts to become more able I have purchased a few books on the system: Ubuntu Unleashed - 2010 Edition; Ubuntu 9.10 Desktop Guide and Beginning Open Office 3 - From Novice to Professional (I publish a church magazine each month). What do you think?
Thanks again!
