Resolution Problems with ATI Radeon 9000
« on: April 20, 2010, 04:13:46 AM »
Hey guys,

Ok, I have got the desktop effects working after figuring out how to enable ATI Radeon drivers on Ubuntu. Now I need to change my resolution. When I go System>Preferences>Display It allows me to change my resolution. It is currently set at 1024x768 while I want it to go to 1152x864. I don't see my prefered resolution listed. My monitor is a Royal Information Company 16". Any help is appreciated and if anybody needs to know more information about anything, please feel free to ask me.

Thanks for your reply. I have both Windows and Ubuntu installed on the same HDD using two partitions. In Windows I am able to get 1152x864 to work but in Ubuntu it's not allowing me to choose it.

Hi

- I've found how to fix it you have change the xorg con fig file .

1) open up a Terminal type or copy & paste :
Code: [Select]
sudo gedit  /etc/X11/xorg.conf
2) now find the Screen Section  , were this is   "Modes   "1440x900" "1024x768""   change the first one to "1152x864" .

3) click save and exit the file , restart you system by :
Code: [Select]
sudo reboot   this  will change it next time you log-in or use the Monitors settings in system .

hope it helps

I am using 9.10. So if I install 10.04 and type that command in, it should work. Right?
