My ubuntu 9.04 is freezing and sometimes doesn't reeboot

when rebooting after a freeze my ubuntu 9.10 will stop at the screen grub 1.5 or it will stop at reboot or choose a different boot device please help.

- I would upgrage to 10.04  see http://www.ubuntugeek.com/how-to-upgrade-ubuntu-9-10-karmic-koala-to-ubuntu-10-04-lucid-lynx-desktop.html

-remove any drivers install by the jockey
