UBuntu 10.04: Totem Movie Player/Rhythmbox Vs. Mplayer

hi guys just wanted to know what are the pros and cons of using the built-in players in Lucid and Mplayer. thanks!

Hi, in my case at least, i had problems to play mp4 videos on Totem. Then i changed to SMplayer and problem solved

im now using mplayer. how about if i just remove all of them and install vlc player? would that take care of everything, including the codecs and everything?

the set up i've is  removed Totem   and have vlc & Rhythmbox    .  The diffecent beewn totem and Rhythmbox  is that totem is more of a movie player & less of a Audio player there for Rhythmbox is a Audio player & does player any movies ......

yep i've tried rhythmbox and it really looks like a nifty player. if i install vlc, do i still need the multimedia codecs like w32codecs and libdvdcss2 or can i remove them along with totem?

yep just remove all the package you've talked about and install vlc .
