file manager problem

Dear All,

I am having 2 problems with the file manager application in Ubuntu 10.10 netbook edition.

1.  There is no ribbon at the top so I cannot close, minimize, maximize or change the view.
2.  In icon view (the only view available) I cannot delete, copy or move files because right click does not work.  Left click will launch files, but nothing else.

This is the only application I have found that has either of these problems.

The computer is an Acer Aspire 1 with 2 gigs RAM and 320 Gig HD.  It was purchased new in January.  The Ubuntu install was clean (i.e., the hard drive was wiped at installation) and as of about 2 hours ago the update manager said all updates were installed.
