Creating a Splash Screen for Ubuntu 10.04
« on: August 27, 2010, 12:36:29 AM »
I am trying to take a picture I have (its a .png and is 800x600 in size) and make it into a splash screen for ubuntu 10.04. I have tried the instructions on http://www.ubuntugeek.com/quick-tipplymouth-themes-in-ubuntu-10-04-lucid-lynx.html but nothing happens. After going through the instructions and I reboot I just get a blank screen. Other splash screens that are in the repositories work fine. I also tried downloading a software in the software center called Splash Screen and it doesn't work either. Please assist!!! Thank you

That seems more for the login screen. I am referring to the screen that when starts up has the ubuntu with the dots underneath it. I know there are a couple (like 3 or 4) splash screens in the software center and I can change them in the terminal by running update-alternatives --config default.plymouth then doing sudo update-initramfs -u but i am trying to create one that is just a image. Is that possible?
