Old Laptop Wireless Network Card Ubuntu 11.10
« on: November 07, 2011, 10:44:40 PM »
I don't know how I did it. I lost my notes from prev installs where I finaly got it to work, but .... Everytime I upgrade my old Laptop I have to put my laptop into a choke hold to get the wireless to work. Now I can't seem to get it to work this time.  I don't understand how my laptop/ubuntu can see all the wireless connections, even used wireless to install 11.10, but when it comes to connecting to the (displayed) network (ie NETGEAR) it won't connect. Wireless Desktop 11.10 works fine using ad-hoc Open no WEP. Are there config files I can just copy from Desktop to Laptop? Iwconfig, lshw, etc for eth1 all show wireless card and drivers onboard as well as lo and eth0. I Just can't connect to my network or internet via the wireless  - wired works fine. Thanks Stephen
