Hi folks,

Thanks in advance for any help offered here.  (I'd also be willing to hire someone for occasional ongoing remote linux help!)

I have an intranet of 3 computers on a wired & wireless Linksys router at my home office.  My network has been running reasonably well for a while, now.  I had help setting up samba originally, from a linux administrator.  A couple of days ago, I switched ISP's, and changed from a cable modem fed into the LinkSys router, over to DSL.  So now I have a DSL modem with a built in router.  When the installer first brought in the new DSL/router, they replaced my existing router, and I started making adjustments in GADMIN-Samba to account for this.  I ran into a few problems, and contacted my DSL provider.  They actually proposed I use the new DSL modem in bridged mode, and go back to using my Linksys router, since everything was presumably already set up to work with that.

I then reverted most of the changes back, but clearly left something munged.

All my PC's have internet connectivity, and the two Windows PC's can see each other fine in the XP workgroup.

Unfortunately, my linux PC is no longer visible to my Windows PC's, and Samba is apparently no longer working right.

From Westchase (my linux PC): I CAN ping both of my Windows PCs successfully.  And, I can also mount Windows drives on my linux PC -- so my ubuntu box sees shared directories on the PCs.

From either/both my 2 Windows PCs, I CAN ping Westchase, AND, I can see the samba file & print sharing server in my Windows network under the MII workgroup (although I cannot open it -- clicking on Westchase first gives me an hourglass, then says \\Westchase is not accessible, and I might not have permission to use this network resource, etc).

And on both my Windows PCs, I cannot map Z: to any of the Samba shares.

My original IP's as we'd hardcoded them into hosts & lmhosts... have been changed by the removal and replacement of the routers.  I noticed that already, and hardcoded in the proper new IPs into the hosts files on all PC's, and lmhosts as well in the Windows PCs.  So that ain't it.  And I've tested trying to map to the linux shared drives, with both the name, and the IP.  No joy.

I think I've simply botched a few gadmin-samba settings, and that since not much has changed since my PCs were able to communicate in all directions, I'm hoping it should be a fast thing to solve.

What would you recommend?  Attached below is my smb.conf file.

Thanks in advance,

You could always create an ftp server
