Connecting my laptop to my TV
« on: October 09, 2010, 09:53:27 PM »
OK, I hope this is the right place to post this.  I'm trying to connect my laptop to my TV so that I use the TV's 32" screen to watch web video.  My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite L-305, so it's both low-end and a couple years old.  It uses Mobile IntelĀ® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD.  It does have a 15-pin connector and I bought a 15-pin to RCA (female) composite connector which allows me to connect to the Sony Bravia's 'Video 2' composite connection.  On my computer, I select System > Preferences > Monitor Preferences > Detect Monitors, but it will only show me 'Laptop', and doesn't seem to connect.  On the TV, when I press the 'Input' key, the 'Video 2' option is in color indicating, I believe, that the TV recognizes that there's something there, but on-screen it says 'No signal'.

What am I doing wrong? (Yes, I had a video playing on my laptop when I had it connected to the TV)
