Ubuntu 12.10 had a hard time installing,
and then nothing on the screen after login.
Just the wallpaper background. No toolbar on top.
Uninstalled Ubuntu, installed linux Mint, good to go!
Now trying Ubuntu 10.04 on my dell 3000 pc to get
used to Linux.
The reason for all this is that I want to install Ubuntu on my son's
dell mini 10. The Dell website says it originally shipped with Ubuntu
or xp from the factory. That is why I wanted Ubuntu.
Hope to get Ubuntu to work on my test computer dell 3000 before I
install on the dell mini. Hope Ubuntu 10.04 works. If not I will go
with a different distro. Because of Autocad, I use windows.
Tried linux Red Hat 10 years ago, without success on a new computer.
Perhaps ubuntu 10.04 is more installable.
Just installed Ubuntu 10.04, and it works. Toolbar on top.
So in my experience, there is a problem with the 12.10 installation
of Ubuntu.
