Problems experienced at boot up
« on: January 01, 2010, 08:22:58 AM »
Proud to be one of the first to post an actual problem on this forum :)  I am having some problems at boot up.  The problems usually occur when I do a cold boot-up and not when I do a re-boot.  First of all, right after the splash, my lappy boots up into terminal prompting me for my user and password.  It hangs there for a couple of minutes and then continues to boot up normally.  Then after I log in, it boots up into the default wall paper rather than an actual desktop.  Again, it hangs like that for a couple of minutes before my desktop appears.  I welcome any suggestions.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I am on ubuntu 9.10 with the kernel 2.6.31-16-generic

And here is the output from dmesg: http://pastebin.com/fd1f46b9

try booting from the install disk and do a repair.
