Title: Iptables help?
Post by: Yoso on April 29, 2010, 05:44:29 AM
Hi Im practically new to Ubuntu Server, Ive read a lot though.

Im trying to set up a secure server, but I plan to use iptables to deny some things, but there's a little problem; im not that good with iptables. I plan to set up some services like DNS securely, time server, printserver, remote access, and perhaps another service. Ive been looking for some tutorials and I think ive pretty much covered DNS and remote access thru SSH. The only thing I want to do know is deny as much things as I need to. So I need a little help with iptables to set a secure server.

Thx

There are a lot of tutorials on iptables. Main thing is to set the policy on tables to drop and only permit needed services.
Here are some:

Hope this helps.
