Title: Slow Printer - HP Laserjet 5
Post by: johnkelly.110 on May 22, 2010, 12:52:46 PM
I am running Ubuntu 10.4. with OOo 3.2.

I have used an HP Laserjet 5 for many (15+) years to print a church magazine. The printer is not particularly quick - but is the most reliable and "tolerant" printer I know! It tolerates recycled cartridges and is robust enough to tackle everything I have ever thrown at it!

The printer runs under Ubuntu 10.4 with OOo 3.2. However it is VERY slow - much slower than it was with Windows and MS Office (I estimate about half the speed it was). Any tweaks I could make? Or should I upgrade the memory. I expect that it has standard memory fitted?
